Brenntag now offers SE Tylose's cellulose ethers in Canada

ESSEN, Germany—Brenntag Specialties, a chemical wholesaler, now offers cellulose ethers from SE Tylose in Canada.

Brenntag announced the supplier agreement June 19. It covers the HEC and MC range of cellulose ethers from SE Tylose for the material science markets.

"We are very happy to be partnering with a well-respected supplier such as SE Tylose whose products are a great addition to our already extensive portfolio," said Ted Davlantes, president of material science Americas for Brenntag. "Our commitment to provide high-performance products combined with superior service and technical support will enable Brenntag and SE Tylose to keep adding value to our markets for many years."

HEC (hydroxyethyl cellulose) and MC (methyl cellulose) ethers are used in construction products, architectural paints, adhesives, caulks and sealants, traffic coatings, oil field and e-poly.

"SE Tylose looks forward to Brenntag Specialties representing our cellulose ethers primarily in the CASE and construction markets in Canada," said Iain Stevenson, SE Tylose North American regional manager. "With complementing Brenntag customer service and high-quality HEC/MC cellulose ethers from SE Tylose, together we will create positive business momentum and market growth."

SE Tylose GmbH is a German chemical company owned by Shin-Etsu Chemical Ltd. of Japan. SE Tylose has production facilities in Wiesbaden, Germany; Plaquemine, La.; and in Naoetsu, Japan. Shin-Etsu is a global supplier of MC and HEC.

With warehouses throughout the U.S., Brenntag has more than 17,500 employees worldwide and operates a network of about 600 sites in 72 countries.

The company, which has two major business segments in Brenntag Essentials and Brenntag Specialties, saw sales of more than $22 billion in 2022.
