SildeyCel ME/MP is a modified nonionic water-soluble cellulose ether specifically designed as a water-retention and viscosity-enhancing additive for cementitious mortars. Containing methyl, ethyl, and hydroxyethyl substituents, SildeyCel provides a unique balance between workability and strength. It is a highly significant water-retention and thickening agent in mortar formulations.Construction grade cellulose ether is divided into Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose(HPMC) and Methylhydroxyethylcellulose (MHEC) according to different substituent groups. The substitute groups of HEMC are hydroxyethyl and methoxy, while the substitute groups of HPMC are hydroxypropyl and methoxy. Compared with HPMC, HEMC has more hydrophilic groups, which means it has a relatively higher gel temperature, better water retention in hot environments, and better thermal stability. HPMC has better water retention and workability in wall putty, tile adhesive, and other products.Water RetentionThe excellent water retention of Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose allows the cement to have a longer time to hydrate and improve the adhesion of the mortar to the substrate.
